Hosted by Linda Wattley
I am so thankful Harriet Hodgson crossed my path. What she must share with the world is so needed and highly appreciated. She is a person who knows the full dynamics of caregiving and how to share it with others in a way that causes one to exhale.
Hodgson has been a freelance writer for 36+ years and is the author of 35 books and thousands of print and Internet articles. She is a member of the Association of Health Care Journalists, Association for Death Education and Counseling, and Minnesota Coalition for Death Education and Support.
She is also a contributing writer for The Caregiver Space website, Open to Hope Foundation website, and The Grief Toolbox website. She has appeared on more than 180 radio talk shows, blog talk radio, and dozens of television stations, including CNN. A popular speaker, Hodgson has given presentations at public health, Alzheimer’s, and bereavement conferences.
Harriet Hodgson is an amazing author who learned hands on just what it takes and means to be a caregiver. Her journey began when she became her mother’s caregiver for nine years. Unexpectedly she became her twin grandchildren’s’ guardian and caregiver in 2007 when their parents were killed in separate car crashes. (The of the twins was Harriet and John’s elder daughter.) In 2013, Harriet became a caregiver again when her husband’s aorta dissected. Being a caregiver for three generations—her mother, husband, and grandchildren— deposited an unending reservoir of experience and wisdom in her soul that has set up an amazing platform for her to be a great author who continuously write books to strengthen and encourage other caregivers.
Already she has written 35 books and counting. These books are priceless jewels because they deal with the soul of the life’s journey. Her wisdom deals with grief, pain, mental issues, anything that pulls the human soul down when life shift our gears of reality causing a need to be assisted. Also, her books offer delightful moments as well like for those who enjoy cooking, she has an amazing cookbook. You can only win reading her books.
I read two of her books, “The Family Caregivers Guide” and “Affirmations for Family Caregivers”. I must tell you; these books are written by a truly gifted author. She brings it in a way you come to accept the normality of being a caregiver. For sure, you will take her offer to stay in touch with her because she will become your angel.
