The American Vision – Growing Monsters & Complete Disclosure – With Guest – Gold Star Marine Mother, & Author, Stephanie Parker McKean

Stephanie Parker McKean grew up in Texas and Georgia. When she was five, she became inconsolable when her pet grasshopper died. History repeated itself when her son Luke was five years old, his pet grasshopper was eaten by a spider. That inspired her book, “I’m the Grasshopper.”

Stephanie states she was an unpopular child who kept snakes. The day after she appeared on a TV show explaining how to tell poisonous from harmless snakes, she was bitten by a venomous cottonmouth.

Growing up, Stephanie’s family had a roadside zoo. One day, their 150-pound Lion, Ebenezer arrived in a station wagon to join: opossums, raccoons, snakes, a fox, monkeys, a skunk, and a jaguarondi. When he reached 400 pounds he became a lion. She had invited Ed, a fellow college student to meet Eb, not realizing that Eb had transformed into a lion. Eb grabbed me by the stomach and mauled me. Ed jerked me out of the cage. “I hope I did that right,” he panted. “I’ve never rescued anyone from a lion before.”

Stephanie survived being mauled Ebenezer and childhood sexual abuse. Her writings have been influenced by her experiences including living under a bridge.

Growing Monsters and Complete Disclosure

What doesn’t make you bitter makes you better. You can’t make lemonade without lemons. Stephanie made the transition from atheist to Christian. Her favorite Bible verses are: in everything give thanks; and all things work together to good for those who love the LORD.

Stephanie thought the worst day in her life was the day she lost her job; her mother died and she couldn’t attend her funeral because her husband was sent home from the hospital to die; her sheepdog died, and her truck caught on fire. But the worst day in her life was November 17, 2013, when her son, Major Luke Parker, USMC died in a plane crash.

“Dead Body in a Pickup Truck”

Stephanie dedicated this book to Luke and includes the prophetic poem he wrote one year before his death. She has eighteen books published to date.

Live from and Living in Scotland

Stephanie is married to retired Scottish minister Alan McKean, author of time travel novels. They met when a pulpit exchange sent him to Pipe Creek, Texas, and she interviewed him for a newspaper article. She now lives in Scotland where The American Vision caught up with her for this article and video.

Hopefully reading my books will encourage folks to make lemonade from lemons. What doesn’t make you bitter makes you better. Just add prayer and praise.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … TLB
