It’s never about what happens. It’s always about what happens next. We are each dealt a hand, a set of circumstances that challenge’s us at our core. It’s very fictional to think we can control every aspect of our lives, because, we live in a world that’ s very fluid. Turning pain into purpose is an intentional decision. It’s what causes the cream to rise to the top. Unless we are intentional our circumstances will rule the day.
When awful things happen, tragedy strikes or something doesn’t work out we always have another move. Instead of acting out the scene as though it is final, we have the power and capacity to rewrite the scripts of our lives. What we are able to control is our response to everything we experience. Sometimes, bad things happen to wake us up to the good things we haven’t been paying attention to.
Everyone has a story. But, you would be hard-pressed to find a more remarkable story than John Ramsteads’. He was an F-14 combat fighter pilot, selected for TOP GUN training and lost it all do to an eye injury during a softball game. He could no longer fly. It was devastating. His dream and passion vanished into the clouds. It could have ruined him. To top that, he had an incredible, near fatal, accident while riding a horse that required two years of hospital care and over twenty surgeries.
John could have sunk into despair and self-pity. He decided to not be a victim. He rewrote the script of his life. Today he is flying a totally different way!
