Looming state and federal legislation supported by the President and the NRA that seeks to redefine “bump stocks” to “machine guns” is a capitulation to gun grabbers who seek to penalize law abiding gun owners who did nothing wrong.
“The president is supporting it because the NRA said that legislation against bump stocks needs to be included in the coming session, shortly after the Vegas shooting,” said Michael Marshall, co-founding member of The Liberty First Foundation, a national group organized to impact political policy and remove the negative stigma of firearm ownership.
At the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2017, a suicidal gunman killed 58 people and injured 851 in a mass shooting. Twelve bump stock devices were included in the cache of weapons found at the crime scene. State legislators moved quickly to pass gun control legislation and President Donald J. Trump directed the Dept. of Justice to classify bump stocks as machine guns.
“The biggest reason why the NRA jumped on that bandwagon was to draw attention away from AR-15s and AR-10s,” said Marshall. “There were a lot of AR-15s and AR-10s that were at the scene, so the NRA focused on bump stocks as being the cause for the mass casualties.” He said he does not prescribe to the same methodology.
“No other attack other than the Mandalay Bay attack in Vegas has ever used bump stocks, so it is a knee-jerk reaction all-across this country,” he continued. “They believe if we can give them bump stocks, then we can bargain to keep something else that is more critical to the Second Amendment.”
Marshall, who is a radio communications technician, said once we ban bump stocks, the gun grabbers will continue to want more gun control. “The fact they are trying to ban bump stocks is just a further encroachment on our Second Amendment rights.”

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … TLB
