“Foster Care Cursed and Blessed His Life”
Hosted by Linda Wattley
James H. Poindexter, III, CC is a man I hold in high respect. His parents were abusive beating him endlessly and willfully starving him. At the age of ten he faced the realty of abandonment by first his mother then his father. This began the vicious cycle of spending the next five years in nine foster homes and 12 shelters, moving a total of 21 times. The abusive trail was so inhumane you wonder how he survived. He was thrown in a dumpster, dog commanded to attack him by a family member, robbed of food and personal things while in shelters. He literally had to become barbaric to survive.
What do you think happened to this child? Miraculously, he finally ended up in the care of two amazing foster parents who embraced him and prepared him to enjoy and control the rest of his life. James went on to accomplish great things. To think, two people saved this young boy’s life forever, to me this is amazing. Because they knew exactly what he needed and desired to care for him, James could begin to heal. Instead of making excuses to be a rebel on the run and a determination to revenge on life for dealing him such a horrific hand, James used his experiences and acquired wisdom to help others early in life.
He is a great advocate for adopted and foster care children. His reach out includes training parents on how to build a loving relationship with their teens. He also mentors teens who are about to age out of the system on how to have success as adults.
James is also an entrepreneur. He started his own company as Founder and CEO of JH Brands where he is mostly known for his work in the areas of champion mindset, entrepreneurship and foster care which has garnered him national media attention. Currently, he has written a self-help book, “Your Amazing Itty Bitty® Foster & Adoptive Parent Guide: 15 Key Steps to Successfully Connect with Your Foster or Adopted Teen”.
This is a book that should been written a long time ago.
