Rebecca Sounds Reveille – Wake Up To – Forest Practices Devastation, Video by Annie Griffin – Producer and Host of Meet America TV
Your Host: Rebecca L. Mahan
This weeks episode is a video shared by Producer and TV Show Host, Annie Griffin of Monterey, California’s Channel 24 public access television show “Meet America.”
Griffin produces shows that expose things she feels viewers, like you, need to know. She has brought CableTV a new style of reporting- “raw live television.” She brings out the truth and proves what she reports to the best of her ability. Griffin spotlights corruption of justice, animal cruelty, social injustice, conspiracy theory’s, alien abductions and story’s of inspiration. Her motto is “If the people lead then the leaders will follow.”
I spoke with her about this particular episode and could not only hear but feel the fire and passion she has about protecting the environment, as well as, the effects of illegal and fraudulent certifications by those practicing in the deforestation, cultivation, harvesting, and sales of trees and their related end user products.
Her passion brought about curiosity for me, and after a lil diggin in… concern too! I think you may find the same. So here is the “skimming of the surface” of what I discovered with preliminary research…
An article contributed to Live Science, Deforestation: Facts, Causes & Effects, by Alina Bradford, Live Science Contributor. Alina wrote:
There are many causes of deforestation. The WWF reports that half of the trees illegally removed from forests are used as fuel.
Aah, so what’s the biggie here? We need fuel. We need it for the millions of automobiles getting us to work, school, shopping, vacations, and so forth. What’s the harm in that? Really, I want to know! The bells and whistles in my psyche went berserk as soon as I saw the word “illegal.” Oh but wait!
While many may not favor all the “red tape” to conduct business, there are guidelines in forestry set in place to ensure forestry, logging, and tree removal is done legally and to country specific standards. The Forest Stewardship Council provides certification to those conducting business in this industry. There are many benefits of certification, but here is one that is of utmost importance for end consumers (for more information and the additional benefits, check it out here: Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)):
“Environmental Protection – FSC’s forest management standards expand protection of water quality, prohibit harvest of rare old-growth forest, prevent loss of natural forest cover and prohibit highly hazardous chemicals, which are all unique aspects of the system. For example, FSC prohibits the use of atrazine, which is otherwise legal in the US but banned in Europe because it has been shown to cause water pollution and birth defects. Other certifications allow atrazine use, including aerial spraying of the chemical.”
So what is atrazine and is it harmful? It’s a herbicide that is used to destroy weeds. Sound familiar? Maybe glyphosate comes to mind and ooohhhh yeah, atrazine is harmful! It harms plants and humans alike and it’s even listed on the ATSDR, (Agency for Toxic Substances Registry), of the CDC. To get a full understanding of how this substance affects the environment and those living in it, please take the time to check out these links:
And the above is just the soft sell … Reality (The Bad) is actually much darker …
Now, this all has me thinking. Now for my next questions, “who would falsify certifications and why?’
Take a peek, not only at the links here, but watch the show… you may discover some things you were not aware of!

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … TLB
