I often talk about truth in media and fake news. Sorting through it all can be a daunting task; thus I challenge you to (if you haven’t already) begin book marking three things: TheLibertyBeacon.com, TLBTV.com, and the writers and their sites where you have found honesty, integrity, and facts that can be checked.

We protect our identities by tracking our credit reports, protecting our Social Security numbers, driver’s licenses, and other confidential documents. We protect our online identities with the use of encryption in passwords and security layers. These are only examples of the things we do to protect ourselves from harm.

There is a component of our lives we fail to take steps to shield from harm… that is the information we allow ourselves and children to be exposed to and the information we are exposed to inadvertently. What do I mean?

We are bombarded with information from mainstream media, advertisements, audio files in many versions from music to podcasts-to news and talk shows.

We demand our right to freedom of speech is protected, yet we often don’t filter some of the damaging information being flung.

By not filtering the massive amount of information we are exposed to daily we allow ourselves to be led down a slippery slope, leading to poor choices, unhealthy relationships, and behaviors that are inappropriate.

We have a duty to ourselves and the lives we influence. By being aware and taking action to protect our moral compass we can reap a life that is rewarding. We can have love, joy, peace forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Yes, I agree with our Constitution. I also agree that in doing so, it can be done in a way that promotes understanding (not always agreement) and a widening of perspective. This is how we learn, grow, and become wise.

My guest Corine Gatti and I discuss this in a fun, yet informational, and tool for your tool belt conversation.. Corine’s tool belt holds two decades as an editor, investigative reporter, and web content strategist. This has given her the fuel to provide encouraging and aspirational insights on news of the day and cultural trends. She is a journalist and analyst for the No. 1 faith-and-inspiration site on the web, The Christian Post.

Corine’s experience as a senior editor for Belifenet.com was an opportunity that positioned her to become an editor and contributor of the popular “Voices” at The Christian Post. This section of The Christian Post provides a platform for people to talk and to write about the politicized issues facing Christians of today.

In an era of “fake news” and pundits, those delivering information through ideological lenses, Corine offers fresh, lively, bias-free coverage and commentary. It’s truth that’s truly inspirational. She is a gifted writer and editor, savvy interviewer, poised and diplomatic correspondent, effective team leader and production controller, and skilled in marketing and viewer-ship building initiatives. She also offers articulate, authoritative broadcast analysis – with wit and whimsy – as a sole guest or as a roundtable panelist.

She is a graduate of Norfolk State University and has been working on her first novel, a work of historical fiction that follows one Christian family’s struggles to build a new life in the newly minted United States. The setting is following the Revolution, but before England is truly ready to let its former colony be independent.

Corine and her husband, Rocky, live in Virginia with their daughter, Aria Brooklyn and pup Maggie.
