NRA certified firearm instructor said there is overwhelming evidence to show that psychotropic drugs contribute to, or cause, gun violence. Last month in Jacksonville, Florida, a shooter killed one person and injured two others, outside a High School football game.

“The shooter had been previously hospitalized on multiple occasions for mental illness,” said Dan Roberts, columnist for Ammoland.com, America’s favorite gun blog. ‘He was also previously prescribed anti-psychotic and anti-depression drugs.’

After the 2013 Sandy Hook Elementary School incident in which 20 children and six adults were shot and killed by a lone shooter, he said he took an extensive look at the last 30 or 32 mass shootings. His research indicated that all but two of them either just stopped taking or were actively taking psychotropic drugs, also known as SSRIs.

“There is overwhelming amount of circumstantial evidence that these drugs can contribute or cause violent behaviors,” he continued. Selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors are a class of drugs typically prescribed for major depressive and anxiety disorders.

Part of the reason why Congress is not addressing these problems is political, said Roberts.

“Big pharma contributes more money to Congress than the ‘evil’ NRA could ever dream of,” he added. “Smith Kline paid a $3 billion fine to resolve allegations that they had failed to notify patients of the potential side effects.”

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … TLB
