In The Crosshairs: New Media’s Influence On Gun Perception – With Guest – 2nd Amendment speaker, Blogger & Podcaster – John Richardson

2nd Amendment speaker, blogger and podcaster discusses American gun culture and how new media has influenced a change in perception to project positive, factual commentary regarding firearms.
“The mass media had no clue that there was this subterranean gorilla warfare used to promote gun rights,” said John Richardson, blogger at No Lawyers – Only Guns and Money. “It was a way to organize without being publicly seen.” In days past, he said gun rights activists used bulletins and message board systems to communicate.
“The perception that gun owners are cousin marrying, red neck hicks, wearing bibbed overalls, with barely subsistent incomes, is ridiculous.” Today, he said new media has catapulted the gun rights topic into the mainstream and out into the open.
“Guns are not cheap,” said Richardson, who is a co-host of the Polite Society Podcast. “We tend to have average or even higher than average incomes. The people I run into tend do be educated or extremely well-educated.” Owning a firearm is about responsibility, he said.
“It means we are responsible for ourselves, and it allows us to be responsible,” said the NRA certified instructor for Basic Handgun. “We are law abiding. It is our right and our responsibility to be armed to protect ourselves, our families, or communities and if you want to take it a step further, it is also a guard against tyrannical governments.”

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … TLB
